🏌️‍♂️ Round 3 Recap: The Memorial Tournament – GGG Edition 🏌️‍♀️

Moving Day at Muirfield Village has come and gone, and it brought more chaos than clarity. The Saturday pressure mounted, and only a few of Golf’s Greatest Gamble selections managed to step up to the challenge. Here’s everything you need to know as we head into the final round of The Memorial.

πŸ”₯ Round 3 Highlights & Notable Performances

Scottie Scheffler (68) – The world No. 1 continues to prove why he wears the crown. Another sub-70 round keeps him right in the mix for a Memorial win and could mean a serious payday for his selector if he closes strong on Sunday.

Sepp Straka (66) – Saturday’s best from the GGG selections! Straka fired a sizzling 66 to rocket up the leaderboard. If he can repeat that on Sunday, we might be looking at the value pick of the week.

Maverick McNealy (69) & Patrick Cantlay (69) – Quietly effective, both of these guys made subtle moves with crisp, clean rounds. Don’t sleep on their potential to finish strong.

Ben Griffin (72) – Griffin continues to deliver. His 72 keeps things respectable.

😬 Struggles & Setbacks

Akshay Bhatia (80) – After opening with 70-69, Bhatia blew up with an 80 on Saturday, derailing what looked like a top-10 week. Brutal timing for anyone hoping to make a charge in Segment 3. This includes a $5 fine.

Collin Morikawa (77) – Another round in the mid-70s for Morikawa, who has gone ice cold since his Thursday 67. A missed opportunity for those banking on his top-tier status.

Xander Schauffele (74) & Viktor Hovland (75) – Both failed to take advantage of Moving Day, leaving them outside realistic contention unless something spectacular happens on Sunday.

Ludvig Γ…berg (77) – The rookie sensation continues to have an up-and-down week. After a great bounce-back in round 2, his third round was forgettable.

πŸ“‰ Fades and Cuts

As noted previously, Daniel Berger, JJ Spaun, and Brian Harman were all gone by Friday’s cut. Berger and Spaun were handed out to managers who missed their picks, while Harman was Pauli’s consolation under the Sutton Fine Rule. All missed the cut — and all netted a big fat $0.

🏁 Final Round Forecast

As we approach Sunday, look for a thrilling battle among GGG selections:

  • Scheffler leads the charge and is the most likely to deliver a top finish.

  • Straka, McNealy, and Cantlay are in striking distance with momentum.

  • Henley, Fleetwood, and English are hanging around and could sneak into the top 10 with a strong close.

With Segment 3 just kicking off, this is a great time to stack points and earnings. Will someone separate themselves from the pack? Or will Sunday deliver a leaderboard shuffle? Either way, stay tuned for a dramatic finish!
