Arnold Palmer Invitational: Round 2 Recap

Bay Hill continued to challenge the field in Round 2 of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, with thick rough and tricky greens making scoring difficult. While some of Golf’s Greatest Gamble selections positioned themselves well heading into the weekend, others saw their tournament cut short.

Contenders Rising to the Challenge

A few league picks are in prime position after two rounds, led by Collin Morikawa (71-68) and Russell Henley (72-68), who surged up the leaderboard with a strong second-round 68. Rory McIlroy (70-70) and Justin Thomas (71-70) also remain in the mix, keeping their hopes alive for a Sunday charge.

Wyndham Clark (67-71) set himself up nicely after an opening-round 67, while Ludvig Åberg (72-71) and Scottie Scheffler (71-72) are still within striking distance.

A special mention goes to Sepp Straka (77-66), who rebounded in a big way, firing one of the best rounds of the day with a 66 to comfortably make the cut.

Disappointments & Missed Cuts

Not everyone survived Bay Hill’s brutal conditions. Akshay Bhatia (79-73) and Harris English (76-74) struggled early and won’t see the weekend. Viktor Hovland (77-72) also failed to recover from a tough opening round, while Maverick McNealy (73-80) had an especially rough second-round 80 to miss the cut by a wide margin.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

With several top-ranked players still in the hunt, the weekend promises an exciting battle at Bay Hill. Can Morikawa, McIlroy, or Thomas make a run? Will Scheffler or Clark prove why they’re among the best in the world?

Stay tuned for moving day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational!
