2025 Puerto Rico Open Recap: Final Round & Full Tournament Breakdown
The 2025 Puerto Rico Open provided plenty of excitement, with a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars battling it out at Grand Reserve Golf Club. While the leaderboard shifted throughout the four days, it was Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen who emerged as the runner-up with an impressive 23-under-par 265, just falling short of victory.
Final Round Highlights
Neergaard-Petersen put on a spectacular Sunday charge, firing a 63 in the final round, the lowest of the day. However, it wasn’t enough to secure the title. Matthias Schmid also had a strong finish, posting a final-round 66 to secure a tie for sixth place at 18-under 270.
Brandt Snedeker showed flashes of his vintage form, recording four consistent rounds (68-69-67-67) to claim a T10 finish at 17-under 271. Cameron Champ and Chan Kim both finished at 15-under 273 for a share of 16th place, while Quade Cummins matched them with a steady 67 in the final round.
Further down the leaderboard, Harry Higgs and Rico Hoey both posted 14-under 274, tying for 26th place, while Ben Kohles and Niklas Norgaard each finished at 13-under 275 (T34).
Notable Performances & Missed Cuts
A handful of players made strong starts but couldn’t maintain their momentum into the weekend. Adam Svensson, Camilo Villegas, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Taylor Montgomery all missed the cut at 4-under 140, while Pierceson Coody and Henrik Norlander settled for T40 finishes at 12-under 276.
Former PGA Tour winner Adam Schenk put together a consistent, if unspectacular, week with rounds of 69-69-70-69, finishing T45 at 11-under 277. Dylan Wu matched that score, but Patrick Fishburn struggled in the final round, closing with a 68 to finish T54 at 10-under 278.
On the lower end, Thomas Rosenmueller finished T59 at 9-under 279, while a number of others, including K.H. Lee and Bud Cauley, failed to make it past Friday’s cut.
Final Thoughts
The Puerto Rico Open once again provided a platform for emerging talent while giving some familiar names a chance to shine. Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen’s runner-up finish at 23-under was a statement performance, and Matthias Schmid’s T6 at 18-under reinforced his place as a rising contender.
With FedEx Cup points and exemptions on the line, the tournament proved to be an important stop on the PGA Tour calendar, setting up a promising season ahead for many of these players.
