Emergency Mulligans Activated: Rickie Fowler Withdraws at WM Phoenix Open

The Waste Management Phoenix Open always brings excitement, but for two of our league members, the drama arrived a little too early. Rickie Fowler, a fan-favorite and one of our league selections, officially withdrew before the start of Round 2—forcing quick decisions from those who had chosen him.

Emergency Mulligans in Action

As per league rules, when a golfer withdraws before Round 2 begins, participants who selected them are eligible for an Emergency Mulligan—a rare but critical lifeline in Golf’s Greatest Gamble.

Two league members, Chris and Jimmy, wasted no time in making their adjustments:

🔄 Chris swapped out Fowler for Corey Conners, hoping the steady Canadian can keep his tournament hopes alive.

🔄 Jimmy made the switch to Christian Bezuidenhout, taking a chance on the South African’s short game to keep his scorecard clean.

Why This Matters

Emergency Mulligans are a unique feature of our league, allowing players to recover from unexpected circumstances—like withdrawals—without being completely sunk for the week. However, it’s only available once per season, so strategic use is key.

As the WM Phoenix Open continues, all eyes will be on Conners and Bezuidenhout to see if these last-minute changes can pay off. Will this move save their tournament or just delay the inevitable? Stay tuned to find out!
