Round 1 Recap: Pebble Beach Delivers Early Drama

The opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am did not disappoint, as the field took on one of the most iconic courses in golf. Our league selections came out firing, with several players making an early statement, while others will need a strong bounce-back in Round 2 to stay in contention.

Leaderboard Standouts

Russell Henley stole the show among our league picks, posting a blistering 64 (-8) to grab a share of the early lead. Viktor Hovland and Justin Rose also came out hot, carding 65s (-7) to position themselves near the top. Rounding out the low scores, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, and Rory McIlroy each delivered 66s (-6), proving why they were popular picks heading into the event.

Solid Starts, Ready to Climb

A cluster of players, including Maverick McNealy, Nick Taylor, Sam Burns, Sungjae Im, and Tom Hoge, all turned in solid rounds of 68 (-4), keeping themselves well within striking distance. Taylor Pendrith edged just ahead of that pack with a 67 (-5).

Work to Do

Not everyone had an ideal start, as Ludvig Åberg struggled to a 77 (+5), finding himself in an early hole. Keegan Bradley and Beau Hossler also faced challenges, each shooting 72 (E). With a shortened event due to the weather adjustments, there’s little room for error heading into Round 2.

By the Numbers

  • League Average Score: 68.61 (-3.39)
  • Lowest Round: Russell Henley (64)
  • Highest Round: Ludvig Åberg (77)

With only three rounds to determine the champion, Round 2 will be pivotal. Will Henley continue his hot streak? Can Åberg battle back? Stay tuned for more action from Pebble Beach!
